Inspired by the Foucauldian concept of the “Panopticon,” Omniscience is an investigation of surveillance and the omniscient gaze of the “other.”
By Michel Foucault’s philosophy, we are all shaped as “subjects” under a disciplinary body/power that is understood to be omnipresent — watching our every move at any given moment. With this understanding, we are produced to be conforming and complacent bodies that are automated to uphold the values of the status quo. It is by this complacency that we are given our access to power and privilege, allowing us to navigate successfully within our daily networks. With this, our natures as “individuals” become evident.
